Quick question - I've got 32bit Vista Ultimate, can I change it to Vista 64bit without doing a clean install?

    Thanks :)

Yes, you can upgrade, but with a Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade disk. You will have to install the x64 version and use your x86 serial.
You just can't change from one to another without a clean install. It's a different architecture.

You can't upgrade to a 64-bit version without doing a clean install. It's not just a patch for Windows or something.

You can upgrade any time you want, but it has to be a clean install.

EDIT: I see you have edited your post. Smart move :)

64 bit and 32 bit are different architectures. So u need to do a complete reinstall to install the x64 OS.

Ah, thought so, just something I'm toying with doing seeing as my Acer has a AMD Turion 64bit processor, after I've sorted out my partitions for my dual boot of Vista and XP.

Don't think I'll bother for a while as I have loads of stuff already installed and re-installing is just a big hassle at the moment.

Dunno, I don't get around here much and my search-fu is weak...

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated :)
