Hello!
I have some problems with Vista on my Laptop.
I have two computers at home..
Toshiba Satellite A-210 J
Turinon 64 x 2x 2.0 Ghz
2G Ram
200 G HD
ATI RADEON 2600 HD
The overall score in performance is 4,9
And regular desktop computer
INTEL PENTIUM IV 3.0 G HZ
2G RAM
160G HD
ATI RADEON X600
The overall score in performance is 3,6
Anyway..my Toshiba notebok came with Vista home primium but i Installed VISTA ULTIMATE 64 bit version.I downloaded all 64 bit divers for toshiba....but i have big problems...
The boot time is very very slow...( i have AVIRA antivirus) and Toshiba needs 1 min and 37 sek to boot...and that means that all icons are loaded and that sidebar pops up.I even disabled the search sistem...but it's all the same.
When i wan't to change anitmation in DREAMSCEANE it need's 4-5 seconds to respond. And yesterday my games started to glitch...i run C&C 3 and and the loading,movies,intro..games were so SLOW and full of twiching....
The next problem is USB...i have a PSP and when i connect it USB port,Vista starts to look for PSP drivers..since there is no PSP drivers and it should reckognize it as external HD or USB i can't do anything..i downloaded the patc over support fot USB drivers and problems but it's the same.
On my desktop computer everything is fine...even if the computer is less powerfull than Toshiba,Vista flys and runs like a baby(32 bit vista ULTIMATE)..40 second boot time..i when i want to change DREAMSCEANE video it resolves right away...no twiching in games or in program operations like on my laptop....
So i need an edvice....is this all because notebook has slover HD or is it because of Vista 64 bit version...or is there something wrong whit my HD drive...
THANK you!
Nice regards,
Hrvoje

do you have service pack 1?

1. See how many programs are loading in the "mscofig", disable unnecessary ones.
2. The antivirus might be scanning upon loading.
3. The video card is shared with the RAM so a 2gb might be insufficient.
4. Prefetching might still be doing it's "housekeeping" tasks, this will take awhile especially on new install. -
I did disable all unnecessary programs.
It was the same when antivirus wasn't installed...it's only 2-3 slower now
Video card is solid ... ATI RADEON 2600 HD..
Anyone? -
If so, start uninstalling one thing at a time and reboot after each until everything that can be uninstalled is uninstalled. If this doesn't find the problem then reinstall Vista and check the boot after each install and see if the problem develops again and what is causing it.
