Vista Aero Setting...

I've just done a fresh install of Vista Business on my laptop. I can't seem to find VISTA AERO STYLE on my list of Appearance Settings.
I can only see Vista Basic, Win. Classic & Win. Standard.

Where can i download Vista Aero - pls. advise ?!

 

I had this problem when i uninstalled my graphics drivers, it wasnt there. Just install some graphics drivers for your card, it should appear after that.

 

Also remember to re-run WEI from the Welcome Center to enable Aero after you have installed the graphics driver.

 

Your WEI must be above 2.0 (or is it 3.0?). The transparency effects will require your power plan to be on balanced or high performance. The graphic card must also be DX 9 enabled with at least 128MB video memory.

 

I've hit yet another SNAG...

I've also just updated the Drivers using the CD provided for Drivers/Utilities.

But now, i'm getting an error saying that Windows Aero is not working !! (see attachment )

I installed WGAPluginInstall & ran it successfully with no probs. ( as recommended by Vista )

Not only that, i'm NOT able to see anything items on the CONTROL PANEL & neither does anything pop up when i right click on the desktop ?!

Could the installation of WindowBlinds have any conflit with this issue ?!

PLS. HELP.

Ok - let's start all over again..

I've re-installed Vista Business 32BIT & Drivers & Utilities.

My graphics card is NOT showing any specs. on it when i goto Control Panel, i.e it's showing 'Not Available'& 'N/A'.

The CDs look pretty genuine to me !

Pls.tell me how to proceed from here..

 

What graphic card do you have? Are you SURE that you installed all the correct drivers? Sometimes the driver CD provided by manufacturers is outdated or contains errors.

 

WEI is showing a Rating of 1. (see attachment)

How can i UNINSTALL & RE-INSTALL Drivers/Utilities CD 'coz the 1st time it gave me a message that system was updating the drivers during REBOOT.

The 2nd time there was no such message..

Note: My Dell D630 is brand new from an auth. agent & i know the 1st time the laptop looked & felt great, screen was crispy clear..

Yes, what is you graphics card? It will make it easier for us, therefore better for you. If we knew what graphics card you had, we could direct you to some very good drivers, rather than possibly outdated ones.

 

Ok - successfully installed Drivers/Utilities & i'm now getting a WEI 3.5 (see attachment)

Also, graphic card is now showing some specs., but still can't see Vista Aero ?!

Do I need to find it somewhere & simply apply it ?

A score of 3.5 for an integrated Intel card seems fine. I can also see that Aero *is* indeed activated on that last screenshot of yours, by looking at the window borders.

When you don't have problems it doesn't mean that everyone has the same experience.
Personally i'm pleased with vista so far.
