Hi. I have a Toshiba laptop with Intel 950 graphics(128mb, 1280x800 resolution) and am planning to buy an external 19 inch monitor(1440 x 900 Native Resolution) to connect to my laptop to expand my desktop space(as "dual monitors"). The question that I have is whether my graphics card will support Aero when the monitor is connected to my laptop. I know that 128mb is enough for aero and can accomodate the aero setting up to some resolution at some certain monitor size but since the graphics card will be dealing with two monitors at the same time, I am not sure whether the aero will be supported. Oh and also my ram is 2gb since the card uses some ram for video.

    TIA!!! :) :)

Your card supports dual-monitors and is Vista certified hardware, but it's really up to your video card drivers to support full Aero interface on an external monitor. I wouldn't see why not but then again we're talking Vista here, who knows if the drivers have matured yet or not?

I'm sorry but some one fill me in. How would you be able to go about and have dual monitors? I have an extra monitor laying around the house. What would I need to do in order to have dual monitors? Just plug in and its automatically dual? Or is there some sort of program/button I needa push to have dual screens?

If your video card supports it, its just plug and play for the most part.

You need to go into your display settings to setup how you want the dual monitor to function tho. (clone, expand, ect)

    Under Vista.

Yes with a GMA945 graphics card, and 2Gb RAM it can fully support AERO interface with two monitors absolutely fine.

    Laptop 1280x800
    External screen 1900x1200

    I tried it myself. :)

    These are my subscores:

    Processor:4.7
    Ram:4.5
    Graphics:3.3
    Gaming Graphics 3.1
    Primary hard disk:4.6

Would I be okay if I dualed? Or will there be some performance problems I'll come upon if I duel relative to these subscores?

Or should I just plug the dang thing in and see what happens?
