People have been asking me how to get a replacement Vista disc or a 64bit disc. You use to be able to simply download them or buy them, but leave it to MS to make a simple thing more difficult. I just ordered a 64bit disc before they make it anymore difficult, I already have a 32bit "Anytime Anywhere". This disc will allow you to install any version of Windows Vista (Retail, OEM, Upgrade, Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate).

    https://na.windowsanytimeupgradestore.com/WAU_DIRECT/Home.aspx

Choose a version, any version cause they all can install off that one disc. It will ask if you have an "Anytime Anywhere" disc, say no. Delete the upgrade license from the cart and you'll be left with the disc ($0) and $7-9 shipping. From there you can click change version under the disc in the cart the change it from 32bit to 64bit. Presto, Vista media.

*EDIT* Fixed URL and fixed instructions to let you choose between 32bit and 64bit.

URL fixed, sorry did a quick repost from a response I did. Now you can do a clean install rather then the junk on the restore disc.

That seems to be basically it. You can get the actual Vista disc for $7 so if you ever need to reinstall you don't have to use a recovery disc and install all the worthless stuff. Although gets you the 64-bit version of Vista too if you looking for it. And not to mention you can install whatever version of Vista you like since the cdkey works for any version.

No, the cd key does NOT work for any version, only the version that the cd key is set for.

You can however also install a 30 day trail of any version by no entering any key. And yes, its what ever your key is set to. I read in the Vista Ultimate agreement that your suppose to be able to install any version below Ultimate using that key, however it never gave me that option.

The anytime upgrade discs basically contain all versions of the Vista Operating system. it gives you the ability to upgrade your current version of Vista (be it home basic, home premium, business, 32bit or 64bit). It also allows you to upgrade from 32bit to 64bit.

Granted, you must have the liscense key for that upgraded version of Windows Vista and you'll have to upgrade it within 30 days.

Additional information is that ALL Vista discs contain ALL versions of Vista. It's not just the anytime upgrade discs that do this.

You can use them as installation media for any computer, but you need an additional license for those computers. You need 2 things to install Vista:
    1. Install disks
    2. License
Those discs can act as #1, but not for #2.

Also, the discs are not only for Home Premium, but also contain all the other Vista versions -- but you need the correct license to use the other versions.

if i want to upgrade from x32 to x64 or vica versa, will i need to get a new License or can i use the one i have from the other?

also, if it turns out that i DO need to get a new license, would it be possible just to dual-boot x32 and x64?

Just download the torrent and burn the iso onto a bootable dvd. It's legal and easy. The iso is big so it'll take several hours or maybe a day to download depending on how fast your download speed is. I just let mine download overnight.

Unfortunately it's not legal unless the torrent uploader has negotiated the rights to distribute the disc from Microsoft.
