A few days ago, I went through most all of the background services using services.msc, and disabled most of them that I do not need. I also did this for startup items.

However, it seems that something I shut off has disabled the Wi-Fi Catcher that came installed with my 1420. Does anyone know what I need to turn back on to make this work again? I can still access the internet, so it isn't too big of a deal, but I do like being able to see how many networks are in range every now and then.

It's probably a zero-conf or something similar. Teaches you to go messing around with things you apparently "don't need" ;) Seriously though, be careful doing that stuff if you don't know what ramifications it may have. It's pretty easy to make a Windows machine unbootable that way.

Quickset must have been the problem. The volume bar is not showing up for me either (sound still works). I tried to open Quickset, but it said it closed down. I must have disabled it in the background services, but I can't exactly find which one that would be. Can anyone help?
