Has anyone seen this before?
Vista Bonus Pack
I have been considering buying the OEM Vista Ultimate disc from newegg and then I saw this today. At first it looks like you can buy the disc and you qualify for the bonus pack. The part number for the disc is on the list but if you read deeper it sounds like you have to buy a PC with Vista pre-loaded from a local computer builder.
I sent newegg an email and now I wait to hear what they say. Anyone else know any more details?

You need to purchase a "system builder" version of Vista as opposed to a standard OEM version. The purchase links are right on the newegg site you linked to. Microsoft will verify that you installed using a "system buidler" key, to allow you to get the deal. It's essentially a way for small custom PC makers to offer their customers something extra... with Microsoft picking up the tab. If you buy that software from NewEgg you ARE the system builder, for purposes of the promotions.

WackyT,
I read that part. That is what prompted me to post.
jadedraverla,
thanks for clarification. That's very helpful. I think I'll go for it. I have XP Pro at the moment and I ordered my free Vista Upgrade Express discs but they are for Vista Business. I had planned on doing the Anytime Upgrade to Ultimate for $139 but I don't like the fact that I can't do a true clean install right to Ultimate (I know there are work-arounds but I don't want to deal with it). I was considering buying the OEM from Newegg even though it is $60 more just so I can have a key I can clean install from but I hadn't quite decided whether I wanted to pay the extra $120 (I have two computers that I need to cover). The bonus packs make it worth it. Now I'm convinced.
