    Hi all,

I have an HP DV9212-TX laptop. I configured it in a Vista and XP Pro dual boot environment, which works perfect before I did this :
I use GHOST 8.0 to clone the entire drive to a new harddisk. When I try to boot with new drive, the boot options appear but neither Vista or XP can gets in. It said missing some files. So I put in the Vista DVD to do a repair. Without too much difficulty, I can now get back into Vista. But whenever I try to load XP, it shows an login screen, and after I enter username and password. I get a blank gray screen and after awhile, it just logoff automatically. I've tried to fix the MBR using XP recovery console but no luck. Is that something related to the Vista bootloader? and what else can I do to get my XP back?

Please help and thanks in advance.

I'm not too sure how to fix it...but from what I've read, Ghost will not work properly with the Vista Bootloader. It is very possible that you're going to have to re-install XP and/or everything else to get it working.

Can you attempt to boot XP to safe mode?

The bootloader doesnt do anything once XP starts going. Sounds like you got a XP problem. Maybe the image didnt copy right or the Vista recovery messsed it up. Maybe try copying the image again and instead of fixing it with the Vista DVD try Grub or some other bootloader.

First of all, Thanks for your help.
I finally got it fix. Its because of the drive letter changed after I clone the disk.
What I've done is boot into Vista. Edit my XP registry key using regedit. Change the drive letter to what it use to be and thats it.

Hope this will give a hint to someone with the same problem.

    thanks again.
