Just finished installing Vista 64 bit in my Thinkpad T61, and all I can say is wow.
This is a way better experience than I originally had when working on some friends' HP laptops that came with Vista last Spring when it first came out.
It is running rock solid, its going just as fast as XP (except on file transfers, those still take a little bit).
And for some reason my built-in screen looks brighter/better colors than on XP, external screen looks the same, which is excellent.
Also, while video chatting on MSN Messenger with Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks, the person on the other end commented that it looks far more clear and brighter than it did last night when I was chatting in with all the same software/hardware mix, but under XP, nothing else changed but the OS.

I've heard it makes the laptop weight 20% less and changes LCD screens to LED. Once it made a 15.4" into a true 16:9.

Thanks for the comment. I'm considering basically the same configuration (VBx64, T61p). Have you had any problems with running older 32 bit programs?

fellow NBR members....
I just got the free vista ultimate 64bit thru windows feedback program. Should i install it? i mean is it worth it? i only play cs:source occasionally , would i benifit anything by installing it? need your opinion .thanks -
You shouldn't have any trouble with 32-bit programs. I have Vista Business x64, and have not seen any issues. 16-bit programs will not run at all, however.
