Vista Business going to be dissapointing for what I use it for?

I scoured for into on this topic and dug through the Microsoft website comparing the features but figured I should just go ahead and ask.

So I want to get a Vaio SZ680 or comparable and realize that it only comes in Vista Business. I've always had it in my head that I would want Vista Home Premium.

I will need the laptop for a digital photography class at school, and also I'm going to cart this thing around Europe for photo editing and blogging on the road.

Will I be dissapointed to not have the goodies on Home Premium or will Business suit me just fine?

I'm also going to purchase Adobe CS3 and Lightroom but can't really afford the upgrade to Vista Ultimate at the moment.

    Thanks!

This is what you gain and lose with Business, as compared to Home Premium:

    - Windows Media Center
    - Windows Media Extender
    - Windows Movie Maker HD/Windows DVD Maker
+ System backup (including imaging your HD)
    + Windows fax/scan
    + Remote Desktop Connection

The difference is fairly minor. You can easily find free software replacements for the differences between the two versions.

Thanks for the quick reply, duely repped.

Yea I'm thinking with CS3 and Lightroom I can easily make up for the missing photo software. I just hate missing out on goodies like that! Darn $M and their marketing.

System backup is probably the only thing I will ever really use out of that little list anyway. (aside from the missing Premium things)

What missing photo software? Vista Photo Gallery is included in all editions of Vista.

Another nice feature of Vista Business is file versioning. It automatically stores old versions of your files, so you can revert to an earlier version if you want to.

Regarding the RDC, you cannot connect to a computer running Home Premium using the remote desktop. But you can still connect from it.
So in other words, only computers running Vista Business or above can be connected remotely.

Thats quite odd about the limited functionality of RDC on Home Premium.

I was trying to connect through RDC to my Windows XP desktop but it wasnt quite going through.

Have you tried updating the RDC in your XP to the latest version?

    I hope it helps.
Otherwise, could it be from the firewall blocking the ports? Perhaps if you provide what the message is when it's not going through.
