I have a Windows Vista Ultimate DVD right at hand, but still wondering the compatibility with the software I am using. I care the most about my laptop drivers (webcam, mic, touchpad), and next Visual Studio 2005 (which I am using on Windows Media Center 2005 (32-bit), and Norton System Work 2007 (haven't tried it out).
Any ideas?

It's a risk you have to be willing to take. There is no "Live CD" windows, so you never know what the outcome is going to be for sure. Although if your research your hardware, you can see if the manufacturer's are providing Vista ready drivers on their support sites. That way, if the driver isn't native, you won't be at loss for a given device.

what about the applications? (Norton...)
I am pretty sure that there will soon be drivers for vista available, because HP is offering UPGRADE PROGRAM to Vista. -
