i figured out why searchs weren't working.

i had to go search something in the search box. then a little line comes up that says "sell all results."

then go to search tools, then search options, then search tab, then check "don't use the index when searching the file system".

that gets it to work ;)

Yea I don't use everything on that list myself.

The main ones that I can't live without on Vista is .........

    FxVisor 1.2

    System Control

Microangelo On Display .... Even after the trial is over, it still allows me to resize and space my icons closer to each other. It also still allows me to take the shortcut Admin-shield away from certain icons and change the font.

Logon Studio .... I can't go back to the lame default Login screen.

StatusBar .... Without this, Firefox would just be to annoying when it comes to the pop-up download manager.

STATBAR .... I have to admit that I only use this on XP. But if you don't want SideBar on Vista, this is the next best thing IMO. Also a great way to get rid of your desktop Icons.

She thinks that everything i do on the computer is to mess it up, so if i changed the logon screen that would be the end of me using the computer.

I tried installing Dreamscene on both my X61 and a Desktop. Both systems are running Vista Business. Installation is not a problem, I run it via the command prompt. It registers under installed updates, but it doesn't show up when you want to choose your wallpaper.

I cannot see how it can work on all Vista versions. Has anyone actually managed to install it on a non-Vista Ultimate system?

My neighbor actually got it to work on a Business version. I'll have to ask him exactly how. I don't have any other version but Ultimate, so I can't test it myself. I been meaning to take that down. I'll see what info I get from my neighbor before I do.

    Thanks, appreciate it.

Was that the old version your neighbor got working or the new one (the one you linked to)?

Maybe it has something to do with other installed updates from Windows Updates. Maybe Microsoft put a stop to it with on of the recent KB updates.

In any event, it would be great if it was possible.

Oh crud cakes. Live, remove bootskin from the list asap. As i was testing out 3rd party skins it totally screwed up my boot process and i couldn't boot. I had to go in safe mode and fix it. Strange thing is, it worked with the defaults. Dang. Hell, now i can't even find the .exe file. I'm re-installing it. Pretty weird.
