Vista Dreamscene

Hi,

I was wondering if there was anyway to get the vista ultimate dreamscene wallpapers on vista Premium?

 

Don't think you can get it to work on premium but i'm not sure

But there was a way to get vlc to function as dreamscene, didn't work 4 me, but might work 4 u u can try it...

Tried getting it to work..but.. having a hard time. still wont give my admin approval to change the file's name. .. will keep working on it and get back to this thread!

change what files name ?

just right click and run the bat as admin, then put the 2 other files in the sys 32 folders, and restart

then see if you get the dreamscene content option in the background personalize bit

 

Although I never did get it to work, I'm not sure if it will have any ramifications come SP1...?

That's because you are not taking ownership of the file the right way. Follow the steps one by one and slowly! ull get it

Tried it, it works but a word of advice

Please try to edit your directions. I somehow figured out for myself some of the things to do but it will be quite hard for some people to do it. (although people who will try to do this are mainly people who wants to do something that normal people won't do)
Please don't include the "folder" because people will think that there must be a folder in that directory. My troubles came when you started saying to copy the patched version to this "folder". I got mixed up here. And when you try to edit the name of the "original" they must also be owned first.

I can't seem to play in .dream format

Is there a way to convert dream format to mpg or wmv?
(I can play wmv and mpg in dream scene)

 

Only Star Dock's DeskScape can open .dream files,
and DeskScape 1 can only be installed on Vista Ultimate.
Star Dock said DeskScape 2 will be out in Feb, 2008,
version 2 can be installed on Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate.

I don't want to be a pain either as well but I would absolutely love getting dreamscene on my g1s. Would anyone mind telling me how to do so??

 

I have vista premium, and Ive tried the VLC method, but when i right click the video i can't get the wallpaper option to show.

(Ive tried reinstalling the program and still didn't work, and Ive followed the method posted in the blog mentioned here exactly.

I've also tried the VLC method previously and could never find the set as wallapaper option no matter what I did and what interface I was using. So I compiled this hack!

Anyway, why would you wanna use VLC when you can have the real dreamscene?

But hey,is it normal that it increases the CPU Usage to 40-50%?

 

Got through steps 1-18, but on step 19 - "import and merge DreamScene.reg to registry" ---- i don't know how to import and merge? I'm sure its something simple i'm overlooking, but i don't want to make mistake. any help?

 

im not sure, i only needed to do the 1st 4 steps and it worked fine so didnt need to bother with the rest !

 

Just double click on the registry file "DreamScene" that was included in the zipped file you downloaded in step 1

 

Thank you all. I double-clicked, that did it. tested with a few small/low res videos i had, and worked great. Now i'm looking for some cool content that loops "better". I may have missed it, so i apologize, but is there a good resource around here for those dreamscenes?
