Before I installed a fresh copy of vista 32 (because of a visit from a little Trojan Horse) I had a Windows Experience index number of 5.8 running everything stock. Now with the fresh install I'm only getting 5.3? This is because my memory operations per second have fallen from 5.8 to 5.3. Does anybody know why and how to get it back up to 5.8 again? I doubt it will make much difference performance wise but bigger numbers are always best arnt they! Cheers.

The Windows Experience Index is flawed.
Its inacurate and affected by all sorts of things.
Just ignore it. -
what detlev said.
if it means so much to you, http://komku.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-change-windows-experience-index.html . -
Cheers for the replies and ignore it I will................. forever.........

While the WEI isn't a necessarily *important* score, it shouldn't suddenly change.
What kind of RAM do you have? Typical desktop DDR2-6400 can hit 5.9. Laptop DDR2-5300 is about 5.1ish. -
My desktop's WEI is 5.9. So what does that mean? Do I never have to upgrade a single component ever again? Woot! -
