    Hey guys,

    I searched google and found solutions to this. However, I have not found any software for WinXP that has 'Recent Places'. Do you guys know anywhere I can find one?

    Thats all I like about Vista (its just WinXP with memory leaks :D)

    Search bar -> Launchy
    Vista Explorer -> ? (please fill in)

    Thanks
    Hpr

    What do you mean about 'Recent places" in vista? You mean the recently opened files menu? That's in XP too.

    You mean the menu on the left? That's in XP too, I'm not exactly sure what setting it is but look in Performance Options and check them all to see if it's there.

    That's not the same. Vista explorer is more advanced, and you can add your folders to the favorite places menu, something you can't do in XP.

    You can add folders in the favorites menu on XP. You can click add and add the folder that you're currently in. Also, you can make your own folder and put whatever you want in it. Still I think you're right about Vista's explorer being more advanced.

    Gave XP a try, its not functionally the same !

    thats sad. Love XP. However, found something that rocked, vista's explorer. I don't even have to add a link into Favourites, it just knows where I have been.

    Regarding total commander, I had a look at its website and there isn't any feature that mentions about it being able to "take-over" xp's save file dialogs.

    You're right, the favorites menu is in XP too, but it's in a menu, not in a sidebar like Vista's explorer. It's also not related with the IE favorites.
