I have a query which I hope some of you can help me with.

I bought a new laptop not long ago with a copy of Windows XP MCE 2005.
As such I qualify for the Vista Express Upgrade, and have redeemed the offer awaiting the Home Premium 32bit upgrade disc.

I fancy buying Vista Ultimate for my laptop though, and would uninstall my Windows XP If I did.

Is it possible to use my Windows Vista upgrade disc to upgrade my Desktop computer instead of the laptop which I received it for. Does that break any rules?

Desktop is a AMD 64 3600+ Processor, but I hardly use it now adays and dont want to put Ultimate on it.

Yea, that doesn't quite work as it will be an OEM disc for your laptop.

That being said, you can always upgrade your Home Premium license to Ultimate for $159 through Microsoft.

Seems a waste of money to upgrade premium to ultimate.

I am however extrememly annoyed that I can only receive the 32bit version of home Premium in the vista express upgrade offer, and although I was assured it would be a free upgrade, its costs me £10.08 to order, and whatever it will cost to get the 64bit.

Note the distinction between "legal" and "doable"
