Hi,
I've looked around for this, but couldn't find an answer, maybe some of you know how to fix this "feature" in Vista...
What I'm basically looking for is standard folder behavior as observed in Windows XP, where whenever a file is changed (renamed/copied to folder) it either stays in the same place in the list of files, or goes to the bottom (for example when a file is copied to the location or a new one is created) and remains there until I manually hit F5 to refresh. What Vista is doing is basically whenever a file is created/modified, it automatically sorts it, which I find extremely inconvenient especially if there's a lot of files I want to modify first. I'm aware that files can be sorted in order of "Date Modified", but that would only help in some cases. Does anyone know if it's actually possible to disable the folder from auto-refreshing? I do see the option under "View" that can toggle auto arrange on and off (and it's actually grayed out), but if I understand correctly, this only applies to icons view?![]()

Right click in the folder. View>Uncheck Auto-Arrange. That should do the trick.

Yeah I don't see any way to turn off the sorting auto-refresh. Bummer.
