    the question has already been posed, but I can't use the hard switch because that will also turn off BT, so does anybody know of a gadget that can turn off wireless cards?

    Have you tried FN + F2 or in control panel under Windows Mobility center there is an option to turn off wireless. I havent seen a gadget to turn it off..

    I know I can use windows MC, but it's too many clicks away and it's clunky./slow

    I think in most cases its a proprietary tool - I can do that on my Sony - but that's the Vaio Smart network utility...
