the "disable sidebar and never start again at startup" gadget.

i don't like it, it's slow, chaotic design crap with no real purpose imho.

    others may like it.

    Depends really.

I don't use the sidebar - I disabled it as far as I can tell.

My mother has a system monitor, a RAM monitor that also does the CPU and a clock...
Oh, and the system monitor allows shutdown etcetera...

    It really depends.

I have a dual monitor set-up and I keep Vista Sidebar docked on my secondary monitor. I have a time, weather, sticky note, search, calculator, CPU/RAM, and video card temp gadget on my sidebar. The video card one is the most helpful to me because I can see it when I game on my main monitor.

Same, I too have a dual screen setup but I achieve time, weather, cpu, ram, hdd, core temps, hdd temps and gpu temps with rainmeter and HWMonitor. Sidebar is just way to much resources for what it is, and is ugly. :p

I used to do that, but I keep Outlook and Zune player open on my secondary monitor, so I don't see the desktop anymore. The sidebar is a convenient way for me to see everything that I need (email/Zune + gadgets).

Oh, I also have Pidgin and AIMP2(my music player) on my secondary monitor but can still see everything. I'm guessing your secondary screen isn't 22 inches? ;p

Jw, what's your resolution on the 22". Does it make it 1680x1050? Or lower? I never tried plugging my laptop into either of my 22's

I wish there was one that showed the local radar. My only transportation is a motorcycle and being able to see when the rain is going to hit me would be very helpful.

Gadget is called "ProWeather" and version 2.0 just came out

Thanks, it's actually normally 35-37, but the screensaver "Aurora" was just running for a bit, and that uses a lot of GPU

The resolution is 1680x1050 on both my laptop screen and external monitor. I can individually configure the resolution for both displays, but I figure the higher the better ;) And lucky you.. two 22" monitors! :)

Thank you so much! The pro weather gadget is amazing!

Why do you have 2 wifi gadgets?

ETA: using Pro weather sidebar.exe runs 2x. Why does it do this?

one is wired, and one is wireless, I use both

Its normal, the Sidebar consists of two processes, one Sidebar.exe process that hosts the Windows Gadgets and a child Sidebar.exe process for third-party Gadgets.

So before you must have been using only the Gadgets that came with windows, but now that you added a third-party gadget, the second process shows.

wow! do you have a cooler? or does your system just have an effective cooling solution?

also, does anyone know of a gadget that can track the total downloads/uploads of a session? i know there are plenty that'll tell you how much bandwidth is currently being used, but I'm looking for one that can track the totals.
