I upgraded my Dell Vostro 1400 from Vista Basic to Vista Business and the upgrade went through with no problem. However, now that it is installed, none of the Vista games (solitaire, minesweeper, chess titans, etc.) open. They opened before the upgrade. I tried them all and when I click to open any of them, nothing comes up. No windows, no errors, just nothing. I tried the start menu, and then running the specific file through Windows Explorer, neither worked. I even tried running as administrator in both cases, and it still doesn't open. What's wrong and how do I get the games working?

That's because Vista Business doesn't include the games that are included with the home versions. I guess what has happened is during the upgrade process Windows has become confused, leaving the icons in place because it "maintains your settings" but deleted the programs because they aren't part of business. Strange that no errors appear, though. As the games don't feature in Business, the only way to get them back is to get a "home" version of Windows, I would guess, because I would think that Microsoft would prevent you from just copying them from another computer. So unless you want to upgrade to Ultimate to get the games, I'd have to say forget it.

Actually games are available in Vista Business but they are not installed by default. This ight be what is causing the problems.

    Shadou:
Try reinstalling the Windows games from the Add/remove windows components option in the Programs/features menu in the control panel.

Thanks miner! I had to actually uninstall the games and then delete the Microsoft Games folder and then reinstall the games for it to work, but they now work fine.
