Bare with me here guys. Kind of hard to describe so let me know if I am not making sense.
I am looking for the theme that makes the task bar, start menu, and all the windows really transparent. I think its called "glass theme" or something like that but I cant seem to pinpoint where exactly I can get it. Hope someone knows which one I am talking about.
Thanks

Sure it's not aero?
-
Is this what you're looking for?
-
I think it's Ezlo.
-
The glass theme is Aero. You can change the transparency as well as window color.
-
Are you looking for it for Windows XP? If so, the only way to get it is through WindowBlinds. Otherwise, in Vista, it is called Aero.
-
yes, this is what i am looking for! where is the best place to download it from. thanks
to those who replied "Aero" ...... come on guys, i may be dumb but I am not that dumb.
-
For XP
i think u r looking for "vistamizer" google it to download. make sure you tick "Apps" during install -
just to be clear. i am on a vista machine, not on my XP machine right not.
as pixelot confirmed I am looking for the ezlo theme. now i am just trying to find the best place to download it from. can someone post a link?
thanks guys -
Here there is one.
http://www.guimods.com/ezlo-rc1-vista-theme/ -
this is the message i get when i go to download it.
"Hello. Thank you for visiting our Download section. Unfortunately it is temporarily offline for maintenance." -
I guess you will have to wait or just look for another web site.
-
I've extracted it to the C:/Windows/Resources/Themes folder. Now how to you apply it? It doesn't show up in themes, and when I browse to the Themes folder, there's nothing to select.
-
from that page i get a forbidden page.
do i have to be a member of deviant art? -
That looks awesome, I might also download it.
-
It's not a deviantart site. It's themesheaven. And I don't get a forbidden page.
-
Try FF, sometimes is a browser issue.
-
I don't use Vista and am not really sure on that.

Have you patched your Vista to accept 3rd-party visuals? -
the page in your link works fine. but then when you click the "download theme" button it goes to a deviant art forbidden page. click the download theme button to see what i mean.
-
Nope. That probably means following the steps in the first link I posted. I'll try that now.
-
you mean with a program like vistaglazz? i did that already, my problem now is i cant seem to find a damn site to download it from that actually works. lmao.
-
kevin, did you just download ezlo today? where did you get it from?
-
Oops sorry. I finally found it here.
-
theres a release of a new uxtheme.dll patch for vista SP1 already??? god im so out of date
-
Sorry. I never tried the download button because I didn't want it on my lappy.
But I removed that post. Thanks for catching that.
-
I've got the proper tweaks done, and Ezlo is working now.
-
You can go to DeviantArts to download Theme files that make the taskbar transparent.
You can also make Aero apply to maximized and the taskbar through a small hack.
I did it though this link.

There are also tweak programs that make the taskbar transparent.Attached Files:

I linked you to it here.
-
maybe someone can walk me through the process. i have downloaded the files and i still don't see them in my list of themes.
-
Run the .exe file, but first make sure you have patched .dll and theme files. You can use VistaGlazz.
-
if you have sp1, you'll have to do it manually
-
Care to elaborate on how? I've done all the necessary prerequisites, now I just need to know how to apply the theme.
Edit - Nevermind, was able to apply it using TuneUp Utilities. -
Good thing my favorite theme has a style sheet. It is called m11
-
Wow TuneUp Utilities solved all of my problems with applying themes. Thanks for mentioning it. That's a cool program.
-
I was gonna mention it before for but he beat me to it.
-
Based on your post, I downloaded TuneUp Utilities, and also was able to now install themes! Thanks!
Man, it is NOT easy to use Themes for Vista. Can't understand why MS gives users the option of using themes, then makes it so difficult to install them!
By the way, TuneUp Utilities is $49, with a 30 day trial. I assume if I don't decide to keep it, I'll continue to be able to use the theme I currently selected, but won't be able to change themes (well, using TuneUp Utilities, obviiously) after the 30 day trial expires.
What do you guys think of the other features of TuneUp Utilities? Worth the money?
Thanks -
Microsoft DOES give the option of using themes. But they have to be digitally signed by Microsoft. I have no idea what the process is, but if it is anything like getting a device driver digitally signed, it is hard work and A LOT of testing.
This hacks the system into letting you use unsigned theme files.
