yes there is

Where can i buy this??
-
You buy a copy of Vista from a store, then you have Microsoft ship you the 64-bit disc.
-
buy the 32-bit version then contact microsoft, pay $10 for the 64-bit version. or just buy ultimate and it comes with 32 and 64
-
Alternatively you can also buy OEM versions of 64bit Vista from places like newegg...

Could I have a link please, how do i contact them anyway? Phone, chat, etc?

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/1033/ordermedia/default.mspx
You can order online but the contact numbers are also listed on the bottom of that page. -
if Dell gave me an OEM of Vista 32-bit, then does that mean i can get a 64-bit the same way?
-
i'm trying to find that out myself. no one at dell can give me a straight answer
-
If you already bought a laptop with Vista on it, you already have a license. You don't need to buy a retail or OEM version of the disk. All you need is the 64 bit Anytime Upgrade disk. Check the Clean Install guide in my sig. In the F-A-Q there are links on where to get this disc, for under $10. You can get it from Microsoft or CompUSA, though they are somewhat slow in processing the order.
-
so if i follow this:
You can also get them from Microsoft, if you follow this procedure:
Go to this site: Windows Anytime Upgrade
Select "Home Premium" as your version
Click "Choose Vista Ultimate"
Answer "No" to "Do you have an Anytime Upgrade Disc"
Click the X to remove "Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows Vista Ultimate" from your shopping basket.
You should now have just the $7.00 disc in your basket.
i will get what? a 64-bit disk? -
Thanks for the help, but could you tell me what OEM means. thanks again
-
"Original Equipment Manufacturer"
It means it's something (in this case an OS) that was meant to be bundled with a computer. -
well i just ordered my 64-bit home premium dvd from compusa for $5.00
-
and since this is 64-bit, i can run 4GB of RAM even though its Home premium right?
-
Yes, that is correct.
-
Ok, I do have one more question. If i get this 64-bit version, can i run 2GB on it of RAM? (The reason is this: i am buying this notebook and it only comes with 2GB, but i want to order the 64 bit disk now, so i dont have to worry about it being out of stock or something. So, could i install that with 2GB, or should i get it now, but wait to put it in untill i get the RAM?) thanks
-
You can run it with any amount of RAM you want...2GB, 1GB doesn't matter. Running 64bit OS doesn't mean you have to run it with 4GB or more RAM.
Vista Home Premium (64-bit????)
