Vista Home Premium - Periodic Clean Up - What are these?

I go in and clean up periodically. I find several things I do not know for sure what are and others I know what are, but do not know how to prevent from recurring. Anyone have ideas about these?

• C:\WINDOWS\Temp
  • I suspect these two are related to one of the AntiVirus, AntiSpyWare, or FireWall programs I have installed
    • C31F31E6.TMP
    • DFC5A2B2.TMP
• C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Temp\usgthrsvc
  • These files are Microsoft Search Gatherer Transaction Logs and contain references to my FireFox cache files
  • These .tmp files cannot be deleted since they are always open to some process
    • Ntf2912.tmp
    • Ntf2913.tmp
• C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\eHome\Logs
  • Related to looking for updates to Windows Media Center
  • Reset to Monthly rather than Daily in Task Scheduler, but would still like to suppress the log
    • mcstore-mcupdate-2007.8.21.22.20.48.log

This appears to have have been resolved by stopping the ehtray service, ...

• C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Temp
  • Related to Windows Media Center
  • The .txt file is open to some process, so the .txt file cannot be deleted
    • ehmsas.txt

This appears to have have been resolved by removing the Task Scheduler entry for LPRemove, ...

• C:\WINDOWS\Temp
  • Language Pack Setup Files
    • lpksetup-20070822-083040-0.log

 

...bump....

Anyone? Particularly the mcstore-mcupdate...log files as they spawn new datasets regularly.
