Can someone please explain to me the difference between Sleep and Hybrid Sleep? I cannot seem to tell other than why Hybrid Sleep is on Hibernation is no longer available. The Pro and Cons of they two types of Sleep would be appreciated thanks.

the hybrid sleep goes to sleep, but also copies the ram to hard disk. so it resumes as fast as sleep, and in case of a power failure where the ram info is lost, it can also resume from hard disk.

but Hybrid sleep still uses power say if you laptop is on battery? while Hibernate does not.

However vista's hybrid sleep was not really intended for use on notebooks, it is really meant to be used on desktops as they usually don't have backup power supplies incase of a power failure. Notebooks have a battery so even if the power failed while in sleep it would just trip to battery with no issues. Then if the battery runs down the notebook will wake briefly from Sleep and go into Hibernate mode so that the memory data is preserved and recoverable therefore negating the need for hybrid sleep.
IMO there is no need for hybrid sleep on notebook. -
ok thanks very much for the clarification.
Thanks
