Attempting to install Vista Ultimate 64-bit on my Z96J (specs in the sig).

The installation starts then gets an error after "extracting" files for several minutes. The error message is 0x8007045D - Something about installation files could not be accessed. Have tried installing multiple times, with the same result. The DVD is a burned image (received the ISO from my university). The DVD appears to be perfectly scratch free.

    Anyone have any advice?

    Thanks.

    Zack

Its probably still because of the disk, try buying official vista disc.

I had this error when installing on my desktop - was due to faulty memory.

Reburn the disc and try it again just in case. No point in paying out the £100+ just for a disc if you have a legitimate key

My vista 64 disc is also a copy so I know they work fine.

@Mr Bean: It is a legitimate copy provided free from my university. (They just provide the image instead of discs).

@Andrew: Ok, will grab some new DVD's and try reburning it.

    Thanks.

    Try burning it slower. 2-4x.

sometimes it works, sometimes it didn't. When it doesen't I have to burn disks again. Reformatted 16 times since October, but now finally it worked. ^^
