Hi everyone,
I just bought Asus M50VN Notebook. I installed WinXP 1st, but then I realized I have to manually download all the drivers. So, I decided to install Vista Ultimate x64. However, during "Expanding Files", I'd get error 0x8007001B and installation stops.
How can I fix this and install Vista ultimate?
Thanks in advance

This is one reason all manufacturers warn users that they don't support XP downgrades on machines designed for Vista.
Sorry there's not a simpler option, but if you keep trying to install with XP still in place, you'll be doing it for a very long time indeed. -
Yes, unfortunately I installed XP first, since I'm used to using it. After I saw all the fuss with drivers, I decided to install Vista instead. Ok, so I should reinstall XP, put Vista CD and then install Vista? How will this work considering I have no drivers?

Full message is as follows:
"Windows cannot copy files from D:\Sources to C:\$WINDOWS.~LS\Sources. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007001B" -

I'm trying to install Vista ultimate x64. Like I said, I installed WinXP first and this is most likely the problem. So, how can I completely format my hard disk using Windows XP setup CD without installing Windows XP?
