    Hi all

I purchased my laptop in June 2008 and didnt try to use the mic (audio in) till abt sep/oct... it doesn't work! I tried two headsets - both work on my other desktop.. but the mic doesnt work on my laptop...

    any suggestions?

For some time, I have used a USB headset to get around the problem and it works fine.. but I would really like to used the audio in/out jacks as the USB headset is giving problems in one ear now... I felt I should resolve this issue before buying another USB headset... so that I can use the same laptop headset on my other media devices also...

The audio drivers are provided by Realtek (Realtek High Definition Audio)... I have the latest laptop drivers from Acer website.. I really feel it's actually a Vista issue... maybe some setting I'm missing somewhere?

    Thanks in advance...

You may have to manually select the external mic input. In the Control Panel select "Sound" applet. Then on the "Recording" tab you will see the selection options. (See attachment.)
