I noticed after resuming from hibernate that Vista was overclocking itself by almost 200 mhz! Heres a cpu-z screenshot

This is really weird, my battery is even out when its doing this since my T61 has a 65w powerbrick. Usually it only clocks in around 1200 ghz without the battery.

This is with zero load btw and it keeps clocking itself from 1.999 up to 2.195 no matter how long I leave it on. It even sometimes goes up to 2.3 ghz!

Well I just rebooted it now and it capped it at 1.2 ghz on a/c without battery. Then I popped back in the battery while on a/c and it would throttle up to x11 multiplier again. it seems like it fluctuates from 2.0 ghz and 2.3 ghz, very odd. My desktop C2D never jumps past its x10 multiplier which no matter what I do to it.

Maybe Intel messed up on capping the multiplier settings somehow. I find it really interesting that they let laptops overclock themselves when they think they need it

What happens if you plug the ac back in after it overclocks?
I would say that this would be a good thing, if you are not too concerned about battery life.

The way my T61 works is it downclocks to 1.2 ghz with a/c no battery, then its supposed to clock back up to full speed with a/c + battery (I guess this is due to the 64w power brick). Then theres the hibernate problem, my first post, thats without the battery on a/c.

Battery life isn't a problem, it throttles down to 800mhz when on battery life which is normal idle speed I believe.
