Right, so I am trying to extend one of the partitions on my disk, I have Shrunk one partition by 1.15 Gb and want to add it to another partition, however, the "extend partition" option is greyed out on all the other partitions apart from the one i shrunk it from...
Anyone know how i can get it to work

I have made a video so you can see what i mean more easily

    . admin right or
. the other partitions are at "end" (to the right). Windows only allow extending (dragging) to the right, and not to the left
. a 3rd party partition app would be your best bet in this scenario

    cheers ...

Next time, upload the video to somewhere like sendspace please. I hate MEGAUPLOAD and the ads and the wait. Also look into getting some new screen cast software, I recommend Debut (you can find this on my Best Free Software for Windows guide, AKA the sticky up top). About partitioning you should just use GParted, I notice you have Kubuntu installed but try grabbing an Ubuntu liveCD and use that to partition it the way you want.

    Ouch!

To the OP: do yourself a favor and get a more sophisticated partition tool, like gparted (free) or Acronis Disk Director (for-pay).

The Kbuntu install was just a Wubi one to test it out (made a partition for it cos i though I might upgrade it to a full install if i liked it), but there was no driver for my wifi so I uninstalled. I have an ubuntu live cd but i think it is corrupt or something (dont think its my cd drive as i just checked booting off xp disk) as it freezes when i try to boot and i dont have any cds left to put gparted on one :(
    Maybe i'll try something else
I was using camtasia, but this is a relatively new laptop and i haveny had time to configure all the settings yet.......

The reason why you have to boot them is because you can't edit a mounted partition. Meaning, because your booted into Windows means you can't actually really fully modify that partifion or any partition currently active. Therefore you need to do it outside the OS, using gParted or some other bootable package.

Well..... I booted off Gparted on my usb flash drive, set everything up as i wanted, then waited 5 hours for it to do it all. Then I rebooted and neither xp or vista would start, so i had to use the recovery disk, and then worked after a long chkdsk...... But at lest now vista is fine, and i may be able to fix xp using vista boot PRO, but i dont really care and i'll just install again since i only installed it yesterday
