Hey guys
I dont really expect a solution out of this, but would be nice to know if anyone is on the same boat
Ok ... ill make this short. Happened 3 times over the past week. My laptop just hang on the screen during the crash. The only way out is force shut down.
However i realise that :
1. All crashes happened when i wasnt looking at the laptop
2. All crashes happened when the laptop was being moved or touched physically (ie, move from table to bed, or even just a slight nudge)
3. All crashes happened when firefox was running
No conclusion can be made from this ... Its just really weird. I suspect the nvidia driver might be causing this. I have just updated the driver to 179.13. Lets see if my laptop is gonna crash again.
Other suspicion > firefox ? vista itself ? other software ? or maybe even hardware ?

It can be *anything*
Go to event logs, and see the error details, and post them here.. or better, get a nice, clear screen shot and post it here, so we could understand better what' happening. -
Hmmm .. I think this is the one. The error occurs just before the crash happens ... Does this say anything at all ?

Can you see any error' in the "System" section?
-
AFAIK Vista is sensitive memory errors , just run the Built-in (Vista) Memory Diagnostics Program . this might not be your issue but just a check out eliminate Memory Issues
-
it really can be caused by various reasons. but i'm thinking if it stops working when the laptop is being physically moved... could be something about the hardware. i'm just guessing here
-
hmm than check if the RAM is properly seated
-
Something must be loose. But then maybe not, because you would get a BSOD not a freeze.
-
Wow, thx guys for the reply
Ran the memory test, no problem there
and the screeny below, the system section before the crash happen.
hmm ... the parallel port driver.... I dont have 1 and there is no such service as parallel port driver service to disable ... lulzAttached Files:

In Firefox, right-click a Flash movie, select "Settings..." and uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration".
Also, see if there's a BIOS update for your computer model. If so, update it.
Then go into BIOS setup and disable the parallel port (if the option is there) along with any other hardware you don't actually have.
Also, in Windows, go into Device Manager and disable any devices you've never actually used on this machine. (If you ever need anything, it can be re-enabled in 10 seconds.) A few possible devices to disable if you've never used them are modem, smart card reader, firewire/1394, PCMCIA or Expresscard reader. -

Thx for the tips in the previous post
Lets see when is my laptop going to crash or freeze .... -
The error you highlighted in your first screenshot most likely isn't related to the freeze/crash you're experiencing; however, that precise error does appear to have cropped up after _Vista SP1, and there is a fix for it, as discussed on this thread from windowsforums.org.
In terms of your actual crash - if it occurs when the system is moved, that sounds like something's loose physically - memory, GPU, etc.
In terms of looking at your event logs, I would also check the information log entries, particularly the last couple of entries that were made just before the crash occurred; it's possible that the crash prevented the OS from writing a log entry about what caused the crash, but it may have been related to something that, up until then, was triggering information events because it was getting unstable. -
Yea ... no idea as well ... So far no crash for 2 days
Thx for WMI fix thing
Lets see when my vista is going to crash lulz ... -
Yayyy it crashes again ... lulz
This time it just froze in front of me ...
Oh well ... ill re install vista once my exams are over
and oh... this time event viewer didnt log any error records
Man ... this is a real head scratcher ...
