    Hey,

after I used gparted to repartition my system (shrunk the Vista OS down by 80.0 GB), Vista prompted me to run a repair reinstallation. Because I do not have a Vista install disc (only ASUS recovery), I may have to reinstall rather than repair.

When I run the recovery disc I get three options:
    -reinstall to first partition only
-reinstall to whole HDD (1 partition)
-reinstall to whold HDD (2 partitions)

If I choose the first option, will this delete my other partitions? (my data partitions) Thanks!

I can attach my gparted gui if that will help later.

    Put it that way:
If you reinstal your first partition only it shouldn't affect any other partitions.

However: There is no guarantee for this so, back them up, for exaple by booting off a Linux CD.

Are you sure you cannot repair Vista with your disk? My XP Medion disks could do that - and the "self made" (Sony utility) recovery disks for my Sony SZ can run a repair funcion for Vista.

Did you ever defrag the Vista partition before you resized it?
