Hey All,
I recently got some trojans on my computer (4 of them). I decided to reinstall windows vista to get rid of them. I put in the disk and booted from it. It installed in about 2 hrs or less without problems. It works okay, but very slow in both boot and downloading and installing programs and updates. It worked much faster before, so i'm not sure why it's slowed so much after the clean reinstall. All of the hardware drivers are installed and working properly. Please Help!

Did you reinstall from a factory re-installation disc or a stand-alone installation disk. Also, did you upgrade or completely reinstall? If you did in fact get a clean installation, then you might be experiencing too many start-up programs/services, faulty drivers, conflicting stock software, etc. I would suggest starting out with Startup Inspector to rid you of unnecessary entries then moving on from there.

I reinstalled from the disk that came with the computer, and completely reinstalled. I've heard that Vista takes time to learn the computer or something so I dont know if thats the problem or if it will speed up once it's downloaded all of the updates.

It will build indexes and caches, if you have not disabled them for speed, over the first couple weeks. I usually disable such options as I would rather it do it when I eventually use the option.

Could this be why its so slow now? I almost wish I never reinstalled. I dont know why its any different than it was before.
