A lot of times when I restart vista it doesn't actually restart. A black screen comes up with a flashing white underscore. The computer never starts up. I have to turn it off and then turn it back on.

I've heard this happens when new hardwares just being plugged in. I don't have any NEW hardware. I have my same iPod I've had for a while and a wireless logitech mouse.

    For what it's worth :

I experienced this same issue with a bad dock, and a similar issue when my iPod is plugged in when I boot.

    Regards,
    Paolo

Try removing the check mark (or number) before "USB" as a boot device in BIOS. See if that works.

Anything you can do? Ya, try having a little patience. You seem to expect folks to repond to your questions instantly. Bumping a thread less than an hour latter is a bit much don't ya thinlk?

    thanks for the free bump.
considering this is a verrrrry popular computer forum, i would think my post might get buried fast.

Did this computer Ship with Vista or did you upgrade & if so, did it work before.
Also, have you installed all of the Vista Updates? I would suggest doing them manually & installing them all. & have you got the latest version of iTunes?

I recieved my Sager NP 9262 today with Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit) and I have been having the same problem! Sometimes when I try to restart I get a black screen and nothing happens, so I must restart manually (sometimes, not always, ctrl+alt+del will restart it, without having to hold the power button down).

What can I do to prevent this from happening?
