This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Vista SP1 - Volume missing from taskbar

    The minor issues I've had are that the volume is missing from the taskbar and can't be added from properties either. It is greyed out.

    And when attaching files through Gmail, folders and files take 10-20 seconds to appear in explorer. Tried through Flickr and it's fine.

    Anyone know anything about the volume icon missing?

    Try rolling back your sound driver, or uninstalling, then reinstalling your driver.

    Aha, did so and worked, but now the same thing with the network icon is happening. SP1 doesn't like my notebook!

    now do the same thing with your wireless card =/

    Is it me of the official release of SP1 seems to cause more trouble than any other previous release of it?

    This has been a Vista bug and not related to SP1. To fix it, you can take a look at this page
