Is this the same as the upcoming public release? Or the same as the one which has been released to manufacturers?

Just wait for SP1 to update via Windows Update. Seriously, it's only another month give or take a week or two.

Apparently this is as good as SP1 is going to get. If you are going to wait a month for something you can download right now, the call is yours. Microsoft most probably wont release any other build of SP1 prior to its public release; however there will be updates released by Microsoft before the public release of SP1 (Stated during the update process).

The update took me about 40 minutes and a couple of restarts. System feels more responsive, but I can't say anything before any performance tests. :)

I'll wait for windows update to do that for me,
don't want to take that risk messing with the OS

Did you have SP1 RC before?

The windows update version will be smaller too. The release package contains also all the update from the Nov 06 RTM release. The windows update one will be depending on your system

Nope, just updates installed through Windows Update. The installation is as easy as clicking the next and "I Agree" check box. :)

Probably not, but ignorance is bliss, is it not? :)

Besides, it's much less effort just to wait for it to pop up on windows update instead of always chasing down the latest build and download location.

Guys I'm sorry, I have to close this because if violates the Microsoft EULA. If it didn't I would have no problem with it. You may void your license if you download this since it is from a non-Microsoft server.

Hang in there, SP1 is not that far off!
