It's no more a great unknown. You can download it with the hack in my signature.
PS: Since two wasn't a lucky number, maybe three is after all.

I don't want to sound ungrateful or anything but I don't feel comfortable using hack or downloading SP1 from a 3rd party.

Microsoft isn't 3rd party. It downloads the SP via Windows Update.

I think hendra is worried that this hack might install a beta or RC version.

either way theres mixed views on the hack version and mixed feedback as to weather its the final one or not, as its not desperatly needed or essential, your probably better of waiting for the official release which isnt gonna be long if you dont wanna be doing a re install if you have any probs, plsus theres nothing to say microsoft wont make any last min changes

way i see it...if it was the final final 100% version, then they would release it to the masses, as they have not yet done so then theres a reason or a chance something might be added or changed

What he means is he'd rather download it when Microsoft intends him to download it.

Yea, I just haven't seen a reason to possibly waste time by installing a beta, RC, or hack version.

I am eager for SP1 if the following is true:

"For instance, with SP1, copying or moving files around your PC, your home network or your corporate network should now be much faster -- up to 50% faster in some scenarios (according to our internal tests). In addition, on many kinds of hardware, resuming a Windows Vista-based PC from sleep is faster on Service Pack 1."

...Whatever make Vista works how its suppose and surprise surprise even if this is only refresh 2 and not RTM its still the best so far and when RTM comes out you can just uninstall it and install RTM if you so desire. This is my opinion on the matter and thats all.

People are so impatient. Really I'm waiting until it's officially intended for us to recieve it. It's only next month, it's not that long to wait. :)

Heck, one of the points of this whole RTM waiting period is so that the manufacturers can get updated drivers and BIOS out. You might as well wait.
