    Vista SP1 help.....

    I have a HP Dv6704nr laptop....

    The problem is that i tried installing SP1 and after i installed it, i can use the computer normally, but sometimes the vista boot screen, with the green bar, it freezes and i have to hard boot my computer and if i take sp1 out the computer works great and sometimes it freezes again.....i dont know what this problem is but if you guys know, plz shed some light....

    Did you install SP1 from the stand-alone or did you wait for it to appear on Windows Update? SP1 has some known driver compatibility issues and will only appear on WU after the installation of a few prerequisite updates AND if you have no driver issues that WU detects.

    What I would do is uninstall SP1, check HP's site for driver updates, install them, see if SP1 appears on WU.

    thats where i got it from, windows update, and i have vista home premium

    i would review the devices manager, and start reinstall a few drivers (just unistall and let vista reinstall). SP1 does have some hiccups at resetting or using current working drivers, after installation.

    in ur case, i'd try first with the graphic driver.

    I have HP pavilion 9653 notebook and Vista, no lynex. I wanted update to SP1, it's installes and than its aborts or uninstall itself. Very much appreciate for any suggestion. :confused:
