Rumor said that the much needed Service Pack 1 for Vista (final version, not beta) will be released on Feb 15. Can anyone confirm this?
-
Hope it's truth........awaiting confirmation
-
Hopefull True SP REFRESH 2 IS great
-
That's been out for days and there is a hack for it in it's thread. Take a look on this page or the previous.
-
what hack you talking about? i download it from microsoft connect ie beta site for microsoft
-
Oh, I must of misunderstood. Anyway, I've posted a hack for people to download it (probably the one leaked from Connect) as soon as possible
.

Hes talking public release you guys...Not some hack, not a beta, a PUBLIC RELEASE. Meaning, it will come through everyone's windows update as an official update...
I, for one, don't care much, as most of the updates of the pack were pushed via windows update already, and i tried the beta and it didn't do much for me. Its just another update... -
ditto, totally agree. Guys you deviated from the main question!
All he asked was for someone to confirm whether the SP1 will be relased officially on the 15th of FEB thank u! nothing about a hack or a release candidate -
Well, it looks like there is some truth to the rumor. The Vista SP1 RTM should be released sometime in Feb. Which probably means Public Release in March.

What I've posted is SP1 RC1 Refresh 2. And yes, if it will be public it will be the same build.

Dg -
If true, why the Friday, is my question? That would be pretty random compared to Microsoft's typical Tuesday update. I do expect it in February though. Slipping into March when we're seeing such progress on it would be really surprising.

-
Don't bet on it being released this day. Anyone can speculate.
-
RTM's are not usually distributed through windows update. So if it does get released (Release To Manufacture) on the 15th you will only be able to get it through Technet or MSDN. The real (public) release won't be until sometime in march.

Rezpower says that 3 hours ago his computer prompted him to update to Vista SP1, presumably the public release. He already had a beta version.

Brilliant news. Can someone close these kind of threads in the future?

Or for anyone not wanting to read all of it:
Here's the timing for SP1 availability for current Windows Vista users:
In mid-March, we will release Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Update (in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese) and to the download center on microsoft.com. Customers who visit Windows Update can choose to install Service Pack 1. If Windows Update determines that the system has one of the drivers we know to be problematic, then Windows Update will not offer SP1. Since we know that some customers may want to update to SP1 anyhow, the download center will allow anyone who wants to install SP1 to do so.
In mid-April, we will begin delivering Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Vista customers who have chosen to have updates downloaded automatically. That said, any system that Windows Update determines has a driver known to not update successfully will not get SP1 automatically. As updates for these drivers become available, they will be installed automatically by Windows Update, which will unblock these systems from getting Service Pack 1. The result is that more and more systems will automatically get SP1, but only when we are confident they will have a good experience.
The remaining languages will RTM in April. -
My point exactly.
Just make one big ****ing thread and discuss it there. -
Clam Down Fade...nothing to get agitated about. Speculation is fine as long as the conversation is civil.
Now with the recent announcement this thread has run out of its usefulness.
Thread Closed -
If you don't like the thread, don't read it. If it were drowning out valid discussion, it would be closed. But it seems as if there are plenty of contributors to this thread, so it's interesting to the members of this board.
