It looks like it is going to be more like the xp soon... -

Rezpower says that 3 hours ago his computer prompted him to update to Vista SP1, presumably the public release. He already had a beta version.

wow?! amazing!!!!!! Microsoft to release an SP ahead of time? sounds too good to be true
-
hey which format is this dd/mm/yy OR mm/dd/yy ?? ... KIDDING..
How reliable is that source? Sounds fiction -
This could be due to an early roll out to test the "integrity" of their servers since everyone will be downloading it at once? -
Well sources like BetaNews suggested March as a realistic date. Don't get your hopes up so high and stop speculating.
-
My hopes arn't too high...personally, I could care less if it came out now or next month...I'm not experiencing any problems that may be solved by the sp1 update.....and what is it to you if we speculate? -
how big will SP1 be? i've only got 1.34GB's of space left
-
You can't install it then.
eyecon82, this kind of speculation is bull****, just because it's not based on anything. -
"If you have been waiting for Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista, well, you can now mark your calender. We just received word that Microsoft has scheduled Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for release to manufacturer (RTM) on Monday, February 4, 2008. That's just 3 days away! The OEMs will also receive Windows Vista Service Pack 1 during that week.
Microsoft will be deploying Service Pack 1 in two "waves". Wave 0, which is the one released on February 4, will only include five languages - English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese. The second wave, Wave 1, is scheduled for release 1-2 weeks later, and will cover all 36 basic languages, including Chinese." -
There must be giant warehouses with nothing but servers pumping out updates to pretty much the world. -
-
yay, can't wait.
-
Not that SP1 will offer anything extraordinary, but it just feels better to have an SP

But much more importantly, even if you're right, that is still inexcusable.
Because XP is not like XP was when it was first released. It's vastly better.
If, by your own words, Vista is like XP was 7 years ago, that means Vista is 7 years behind XP today.
Seems like a good reason to be skeptical of Vista, don't you think?
Honestly, if there's one thing that's more annoying that "Vista whining", it's people who try to defend Vista by pretending we live in 2001. I don't know about you, but I think an OS that's on par with what we had in 2001 is unacceptable in 2008. And if we want to talk about something still more annoying than *that*, it's that apparently we just can't leave it alone.... People can't make a thread about Vista SP1, without people who just feel this desperate urge to proclaim about how everyone who actually think a service pack is necessary are "whiners". -
XP has had a long time to mature and msft has had 7years to fix the bugs..and that has been done....now there's a new OS with newborn bugs..and they will eventually work those out too..just give it some time
that whole mumble jumble about "If, by your own words, Vista is like XP was 7 years ago, that means Vista is 7 years behind XP today."--does this make sense to anyone else? -
I believe that Vista is far much more better than when XP came out. When XP came out it was all buggy, like tons of programs didn't work, Microsoft issued tons of security patches and so on...Vista on the other hand works, there are drivers and programs do work on it.

-
It's inevitable that a piece of software as large as an OS will need some sort of major update or fix. Internal testing just will not find everything, nor will a 15,000 (or however many) person beta program find bugs caused by real-world everyday use.
An OS is such a large undertaking, it's hard to find every bug or every flaw. Give it time, Vista will reach its potential, as XP did.
And about Vista being on Par with XP back in 2001...I find that statement to be insane. Vista RTM is a VAST improvement over XP RTM. There's just NO contest between the two. -
How big can expect the file to be? How long will it take to install?
Sorry for asking these n00b questions but I've never installed an SP before. My previous OS was Windows ME. -
If this will be released then it will be build 18000, which can be installed even now. Hmm...it's quite big actually. It will need a few GB to install.
-
Good news. Hopefully it'll make Vista a little bit smoother.
-
I hope i'm in wave 0. I really want to see what performance enhancements it proves. More proof?
-
I'm hoping it'll be Monday too, just so that my school will consider releasing Vista for free! They've been waiting for SP1 since they decided it's too buggy in its current state, and they don't want to be flooded by support request.
-
Finally!
Hopefully, this will solve all those dell bluetooth driver problems. :/ -
I heard too many different guesses about the date of final release,
1.february 4th,
2.february 15th,
3.february 27th,
4. March 10th,
5.by end of March...... -
5 is correct though
.
-
but,
of course everyone here wants to know the exact date -
Simply we all know this:
Microsoft will release the SP1 for Vista.
-
I meant that XP was riddled with the same or more amount of bugs in its first year of release....just as vista -
-
Good Good... but i am feeling to make Vista as successful as XP it ll need atleast 3 SP's
-
thegreatsquare Notebook Deity
Will there be problems with the install if you have a bunch of processes disabled?
-
If everyone here will take a look at how many bugs and security issues XP has had since RTM you will probably say: "No ****ing way!".
-
I will believe it when I see it on my laptop
-
It's 4th of February. No go!
-
-
-
It took 6 years for Vista. -
Not quite. XP was purely based on 2000 and had nothing to do with starting it from scratch and there's little to no difference compared to 2000 (in terms of functionality).
Vista SP1 will be released on 02/04/08
