Does anyone who upgraded it recommend it? Any noticeable new features/performance enhancements?

Also, confirm that the bottom right corner displays some message about testing only or something.

If you downloaded and installed Vista SP2 Beta, it will say something about evaluation copy/testing at the bottom right of your desktop.

What's the timetable on the official release of SP2? Has there been any news on this at all?

Microsoft keep putting it back. The last estimate was May/June time iirc, so not any time soon :(

If i do install the beta, do I need to remove it/reinstall Windows before I can install the actual release of SP2?

And in some cases SP2 will uninstall itself if a new version is out...and than reinstall the old version. You can stop this loop by manually finding the new version and installing it.

Yep, just looked it up. It's expected to RTM in May or June, with it then being available for download on Microsoft.com a month later. So July even, unless you want to get it from a torrent when it RTM's?

    How ridiculous :(

Absolutely as in I'll need to reinstall Windows or just uninstall SP2?

Absolutely as, you can't upgrade from SP2 Beta to SP2 Final. So you'll need to reinstall windows most likely.

No. If past history holds true you will only need to UNINSTALL the SP2 beta and then install the real one. But be warned, if you use the SP2 cleanup tool in the beta, it removes the ability to uninstall the SP2 beta.

There is actually nothing really new or interesting on SP2 over SP1 if you have maintained your automatic updates.

The only real difference will be that all of the updates will be rolled into SP2.

Windows Sidebar loaded a lot faster with SP2 Beta, but the SP2 Beta may have caused the problem I had with my sound card, so when I reloaded Vista I stayed with SP1. If you don't use Windows Sidebar I don't see any need for the Beta Version.
