    Hi there

I have a laptop with a 1440 x 900 monitor and every time I run a game that runs in a resolution less than this, for example 1024 x 768 it changes the resolution of my screen to that res rather than the actual 1440 x 900 which it should be.

Is there anyway I can stop this from happening?

Thanx in advance for any help/advice. :)

That's just Vista for you. You can try disabling Aero and seeing if that helps, or internally adjusting the resolution of the game to 1440x900.

    Tried disabling aero and it's not that, and the games I'm not running in 1440 x 900 don't have a 1440 x 900 option, hence the reason I'm not running them in 1440 x 900 :D

Thanks for the advice though :)

This is NOT Vista, obviously. If your game does not have the option of choosing the native resolution for your LCD then your SOL. This is true for any game and has nothing to do with the OS.

I agree, it's the softwares' limitation and not Vista.

You could probably play around with the settings for your video card...although you won't get that "full screen" effect. But this definitely isn't a Vista issue.

If it goes back to 1400x900 when you exit the game, look to the game for a fix (many games don't support widescreen modes still). If the game's resolution change persists even when you exit it, then Vista has a problem. You may consider enabling the aspect-ratio preserving option of your drivers, which will make the games look much better during the inevitable scaling when you run in a non-native mode. Or you could disable scaling altogether, but that's generally annoying to me ;)
