I was with a client this morning, and I think that I may have been responsible for breaking her windows sidebar gadgets.

She likes having the clock & calendar on the sidebar that resides on the desktop in Vista and after I ran www.ccleaner.com both the clock & calendar appeared simply as boxes. This is the first and only time Ccleaner has EVER given me even a hint of any issues, and I've literally run it dozens of times on dozens of computers, both Vista and XP.

I think Ccleaner may have been the culprit because one of the results on google said that deleting a certain registry key screws up the sidebar features.

I tried removing and then adding the gadgets, and no help.

I ran the commands listed here:

    http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...ista-Sidebar-are-not-displayed-correctly.html

and got the clock back, but the calendar now displays as a solid orange box - it's still screwed up.

How do I get these back and fully functional?

Thanks so much...I will try it tomorrow.

I already tried some command prompts from the link in my OP and it worked for the clock but not calendar.

    Other suggestions still welcome!!! :)

I started having problems with sidebar when the Analog Clock went to a black circle with hands. May have been a registry cleaner that I ran, but I'm not sure. I've tried the registration commands suggested in http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/208/1 and that process doesn't work for me. What has also happened (and I don't know what caused it) is that now, when I add the Analog Clock gadget, Sidebar crashes and won't even run. To get Sidebar to run, I have to edit the settings.ini file and remove the section that was added when I requested to add the Analog clock.

A user suggested going to Sdebar Properties and requesting to Restore Gadgets installed with Windows. I woul that if the button would be ungrayed. But the button on my Sidebar properties is grayed. Anyone know why?

If anyone has any clue as to why the Analog Clock Gadget crashes Sidebar, I would appreciate it.
