how come my BIOS doesn't have "Quick boot" option...
-
and roytse, it depends on your manufacturer. Some manufacturer's come with these settings as default for optimized settings. -
I dont have a quick boot option. It just takes a long time to scan and check the health of my Raid 0 array.
Man I wish my notebook could use Serial Attached SCSI 2.5" harddrives.

50-1 minute here
-
It takes 2min50secs approximately to load up everything on dekstop..
POST Bios screen takes 20~25 seconds by itself..
2 seconds from entering password and 1 second from the Dualboot select screen.
I am using Vista Ult x64
Specs in Sig, any way to reduce it?
My start up consists of:
Avast
Wireless
RMclock loaded with atsiv
Windows live messenger
And side bar.
-edit- boot menu is disabled and so is the quick boot
Some people here got some major fast times!
second edit - I redone the test without password to log in.
Times are:
Start orb menu loads up without lag: 1min40secs
Every start up processes fully loaded:2mins50~55secs (windows live messenger last to finish load) (start up programs same as listed above). -
shut down time is even worse and it always seems like it has froze or when you put it to sleep you just get a black screen until its done. Why cant there be a status bar or something.
-
Around 40 sec for me - sometimes more, sometimes less. Specs in sig.
Loading data backup program, avira antivir, rivatuner, and threatfire at startup. -
-
I have a Penryn T9500 2.6ghz, Hitachi 7k200, 4gb RAM and 1gb Intel Turbo memory, my boot up time is almost exactly 1 minute flat. Considering the hardware and only 2 programs at bootup (objectdock and logitech setpoint), I thought it'd have been much faster, but only seems like my boot times are about average at best. I will try disabling turbo memory at my next bootup and post results (i usually only reboot once every few days)

do a defrag and go through the Vista tweaks sticky

24 secs flat for me. Inspiron 1720. 4GB RAM. Modified the msconfig like hell.
-
Man, you have a low performant machine
Great system, can you please tell me all the fixes you did? -
Wow...Its great to see this thread still going!
And yes...the Clean Install and Tweaking Threads below have helped many. -
I have tried the first tweaks without any improvement, but I will continue with the rest of tweaks.

I get around 25-30 seconds in my Asus G2SG and 10 second to turn off with Vista Ultimate 64 bits.
-
Between 18-20 seconds here
I looovee solid-state!!!
Also went through all of the Vista tweaks that Les graciously posted which helped an incredible amount. -
My vista x64 start up time takes 3minutes maximum, i have also followed through Les' tweak guide but can not seem to lower the time spent starting up, however my brothers vista 32bit on the otherhand can probably be turned on and off twice and beat my laptop on start up. my specs is in the sig.
-
50sec-1 min...
I think it's time to do some more "tweaking" -
-
3 mins is really long! My vista64 boots up in 50sec-1min after tweaking. I'd like for it to be shorter than that but I cant get it.
Specs:
T7500 2.2 ghz intel duo core
3GB ram
250gb HD 5400rpm -
Thats 3x faster than what mine boots up, well is it a clean vista install with SP1? mines last installed on november or whenever my sig says i have switched over, but i do regularly use auslogics defragmenter and ccleaner and also auslogics registry defragger, but it is still 3minutes...

I want a SSD. >_>
I'll make sure my next laptop has a SSD. -

-
1min 20 seconds or more
ftw 4200rpm -
-
I did all the tips in the Vista tips and tweaks thread including defragging and with all the highest end hardware, I can still manage only barely more than 1 minute load time (1:05 to be exact after several tries) from the time starting after the BIOS screen goes away/Vista starts loading and when Vista loads the desktop. With a Penryn 2.6ghz, 4gb of CL4 DDR2-667 and a 7k200, i really thought it would be faster?
OS is Vista Ultimate SP1 x64 -

Saw this at other forum,
How to See What Your Boot Up Time is in Vista. Useful?
-
-
However, I use Sleep all the time - that brings the startup down to about 8 seconds! -
-
-
I use Home Premium, 32-bit. Went through all the tweaks, removed a whole lot of junk, and disabled most of the needless startup services: 18-20 seconds flat.
However, I've just done a clean install of Vista, and haven't tested yet again. -
It might work if he made it just for him, somehow he implemented his apps into his code, but since he made it for others too, he had to do that. -
Just timed my brand new laptop, 20sec flat.
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Still 45-50 secs for me. Truth be told I think this is very reasonable. I still have Kaspersky and Wireless on at startup. The NBR tweakguide and other sources worked well enough for me.
-
Right on. I like my boot time, but I think it could be quicker.
-
Hmm, maybe about 40 seconds at the most. I try not to reboot so I really am not too concerned with my boot time.
-
I'm consistently around 45 seconds.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-uL-flQ8vo this is my shut down start up i just took real quick sorrry for the crappy vid footage m1330 i just
-
and before anyone wonders why i got the t9500 is because work bought it lol
-
Just timed it twice using my oh so accurate mobile stopwatch. I got 27.6 first time around and 27.3 the next time. Taking my shot reaction time into account I'm going to claim 27 seconds flat.
That's stock settings. I have not got around to tweaking Vista Ultimate yet but I'll hopefully get that done today and see what difference it makes. -
Just timed mine... 2 full mins!!! From the time i press the power button, to the time the sidebar comes up....
once up and running, no problems..
