Ok so I bought a new Asus notebook a month ago and its great.
    Duo T8100 w/ 3GB RAM
    GeForse 9500M GS

VistaHomePremium on the other hand has been nothing but trouble. Heres what ive put on it so far:

    BitCommet download tool
    MagicISO and MagicDisk tool
    Quicktime (Sh*t) Player
    GameSpy Arcade
    Firefox Browser

    Games:
    Rome Total War
    Battlefield 2 + Expansions

However, my system freezes usually at least once a day. It sometimes freezes while browsing but usually the problem happends when Im switching between Battlefield 2 and Firefox or often between the map view and battlemode loading in Rome Total War.

Is this vista just being the poor OS that it is or could I somehow fix this?

My friend has a PC with vista and says he has not had it freeze up in months.

    Any suggestions?
Anything I could do to make this stop?
Any programs that could make my computer run faster?

    HELP!

To attempt to make your system run faster, use this guide:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166532

If you're using a torrent downloader, download yourself some good anti-spyware and anti-virus software. Your chances of infection increase greatly when opening ports for those P2P programs. Make sure your drivers are up to date as well.

Have you applied all the updated drivers to your system? Have you checked out your ram with Memtest86+?

It sounds like either a buggy memory problem (bad), or you need an updated or different driver for your graphics card (fixable). First I say make sure your graphics drivers are up to date, and see you still get this problem.

Ok I have yet to know what it is but I just downloaded MemTest86+ but when I try to boot it, it gives me: "This file is invalid for use as the following: Security Catalog."

    Advise?

When did this problem start? Have you always had this problem, or did it start recently and/or after you installed a certain program? Did Vista come preinstalled, or did you install it yourself? If it came preinstalled, did you wipe the drive and install it yourself? If so, did you install all of the required drivers and/or notebook system software?

No Vista came pre-installed and I did not wipe the drive.

Well I just installed the new Video Drivers from the ASUS website... if the problem comes back I will get back here.

That's weird, I never had Vista freeze on me. It might be one of your programs.
