If you have Vista, are you using User Account Control (UAC)?

I had Vista, and I had to cancel it. There are certain things it *never* learns - like clicking on the advanced system properties link under system properties. The third time it asked me to confirm or deny this, I realized it wasn't going to go away unless I turned it off. And once you turn off UAC, Microsoft is all-too-happy to tell you "too bad!" if something happens to your computer. Not worth it.

Just left it on. It irritates me more so that i can return it to Microsft sooner.

Its just plain irritating.

Its irritating........and it doesnt make no difference if you enable it or disable it........its nothing great........just plain irritation and a way for Microsoft to show that Vista is really secure.
-
I leave it on, although it is a pain in the b*tt, but without it your pc is vulnerable.

This is where 3rd party apps come in, like the old Sygate :/

Definitely disabled it.
You know, until I tried it I thought it would be a great feature. UNIX has been doing this for years, and it's one of the main reasons it's so secure. Until Vista, I thought, Windows user privileges had been a joke. And they had been, it's just that they still are.
The thing is, UNIX only asks you once, not 20 frickin times for every little inconsequential thing you want to do. It should be mandatory for everyone in the security group at Microsoft to run Ubuntu as their primary OS for 3 months. -

I run it enabled, as I'm already used to it popping up for nearly everything. Oddly enough, it does not come up when opening Media Player Classic. Strange, considering it is the only non-MS app so far that does not induce a UAC prompt...............

A good firewall, with an active outgoing connection monitor, trumps UAC every time in my book.

I love Apple's ads mocking it, it made it more of an amusement than an annoyance for me.
To see the ad: go to http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/, click the right arrow once, and click on the Security thumbnail.
I disabled it, too. It wouldn't let me save a document wherever I wanted, and that was just too much. Not even a cancel or allow choice, it wouldn't let me at all. -
haha, it's pretty funny...
I disabled it too~ and boot up faster -
