Hi, I just received my dell XPS M1530 today and it came preloaded with Vista Home Premium. I also purchased a Vista Ultimate Upgrade CD through my college and want to install that.

When I put the CD in though, it has the upgrade option locked out and says:
"The upgrade cannot be started. To upgrade, cancel the installation and then choose to upgrade to a version of windows that is more recent than the version you are currently running."

I know I have SP1 on home premium now, but I'm not sure what version of Ultimate they gave me.

I'm not sure what to do about this.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

After applying SP1, the update function is no longer available...if my memory is right...

So should I just do a clean install of Ultimate. I don't have any personal important files on the laptop, just factory installed programs. Will I lose all of those?
