I am thinking about getting the OEM of Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit + Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Upgrade Coupon. What happens if I upgrade my Vista Home Premium to a Vista Ultimate (retail box)...will I be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (not Home Premium) with my coupon?
Vista Home Premium is $120
Vista Ultimate is $210
Vista Ultimate Upgrade is $65...
so i'll be saving around $35 by not getting Ultimate straight up

No, because the coupon code will give you a product key for Windows 7 Home Premium. So what will happen is that the upgrade process will actually perform a clean install and not an upgrade (as you go down edition), and you will end up with Win7 Home Premium, like you were supposed to have.
You are better off getting Win7 Home Premium and then upgrading to Professional version (Ultimate edition is the same as professional but you have bit-drive encryption for your HDD and on USB memory sticks). Unlike Vista, Professional edition include ALL Home Premium features. -
Thanks for the quick reply!
How much would an upgrade from Win7 Home Premium to Win7 Professional be? And how much from ultimate? -
Price in US:
Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional: $89.99
Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate: $139.99
