So let me get this straight, I bought Vista Ultimate Edition for my notebook, which is nothing more then a combination Premiums Media player with all the features of Business and the Ultimate extras. The extras are Video backgrounds which I have no problems enabling on any other version of Vista (only one I haven't yet is Basic), a Texas Hold'em with no internet play and bitlock which is personally useless. Now Dell makes a deal with MS for the RED Edition notebooks which will not only have Ultimate, but extra extras (themes and backgrounds). WTF! Is anyone else feeling as though MS is screwing people who took a leap of faith, not only on Vista, but also on Ultimate.

Yes. I cannot believe that Microsoft is selling something that you don't want. You know, it should be illegal for companies to sell stuff without justifying the price. For example, there's this one Mom and Pop burger joint around here that sells a 5 pound burger. They know that I cannot and do not want to eat a five pound burger. It's an abomination to society for them to even have it on the menu. Screw them. And Microsoft.

For the love of god, if you don't like something, don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

I'd like to see apple justify its price for its mac computers-especially the mac pro, if u upgrade the ram fully they mark it up ridiculously high.

I think the issue is that Microsoft sold that particular flavor of Vista with the intention that there would be a lot of additional add-ons further down the line. A better analogy would be buying software that offers a lifetime upgrade policy, and then the developer discontinuing that software and creating another software that does the exact same thing with a different name, and then saying that you're not eligible for upgrade.

i'd feel WAY more cheated if i was one of those early early iphone buyers. for apple to turn around and drop the price like that SOOOOO soon was a complete slap in the face to those apple loyalists who went out and bought in early. yet, like a stupid naive puppy that doesn't know any better, they come running back the abusive owner that kicks them.

different strokes for different folks i guess.

This has nothing to do with that. (RED) comes with the normal Windows Ultimate plus special wallpapers and screensavers. Those aren't add-ons by Microsoft, they're add-ons by Dell.
