When choosing the right Vista OS for my new notebook, I'm at a stand still between Premium and Ultimate. I think I want 64bit, but it looks like its offered for both. When reviewing Dell, they dont specify which is 64 or 32bit. Which is best, and how can I tell when customizing a dell which is 32 or 64?

    Thanks!

Almost all OEM's will be 32 bit, unless they specify 64 bit (I know HP and I think lenovo offer some now).

Most people are happy with Vista Home Premium, it has almost everything ultimate does. I got Ultimate only because I wanted both Media Center (which I never use, should have just gotten Vista Business) and I do a ton of RDP stuff. Vista HP will be fine for 99% of users.

If you were fine using XP Home, get Vista Home Premium. If you needed Professional, get Ultimate.

Dell is only 32 bit hu??? Booooo.

From what I researched, I think 64bit is better, and what I should get... dont you think?

I was keen on Dell, my friend had his dell 4 years, and nothing went wrong. then all the sudden in one week his system crashed, and they fixed it, no prob, then he couldnt get the wireless to work, so they walked him thru it, no prob, and while holding the phone with one hand, and the laptop with the other, trying to get the ethernet cable to connect, he dropped it, and busted the screen, CD drive, and cracked the case. 3 days later, a brand new notebook! Talk about service! but if I cant get everything I want, then I dont want to pay for the extra service, to only be sorta happy with my product... ya know?

    LOL

I have been perfectly happy with 32bit.

I think you only need Premium as well. I have Ultimate and I don't use any of the special features. I wish I would have gotten Premium instead.
