so i installed vista ultimate 32 bit on my laptop... a repainted, uber expensive clevo d900k F-bomb...

worked ok... did what it needed to... till some updates... then recently, when i shut down, the screen goes off, the hdd flicker goes down, everything seems to go down... but fan is still spinning and will not shut down...

    any known issues?

    is it a driver issue?

    thanks!

Are you doing a full shutdown or entering sleep mode? Vista has some problems going into sleep mode which are often related to USB devices. There are a few fixes out there as part of windows update, but none of them have fixed my system yet. (My problem is that sometimes the system will not go to sleep).

Yeah, my Sony isn't sleeping right when I leave my USB wireless mouse connected. Tonight, I shut the lid and put it in the case when I left my office. When I got home and took it out an hour later, the computer was smoking hot and the display was on even though the lid was shut.

i'm shutting down my system, not going into sleep mode...

all things shuts down but fans, hdd and some others are running...

it seems that it is so for restarts as well... i will need to manually shutdown and manually restart...

    bit annoying...

What updates? I am currently running Vista on my D900K perfectly. I remember the first few times trying to run Vista I had this problem and two things caused this! 1) SATA/RAID driver. 2) Camera driver. To solve this I use the current RAID driver from VIA and the camera drivers from Sager. I hope this helps you, once you get the problem solved Vista flies on a D900K.
